What we collect, and why

When you apply, we collect: the name you go by, your legal name, email, phone number, how you heard about us, community groups you belong to, anything you share to establish your bona fides, a verification picture, and your chosen password. All of it serves one purpose: a human being verifying that you're a real, adult person who belongs in this community. We collect nothing else, and we never collect anything from you just by visiting this website.

What we don't do

This site has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking cookies, and no third-party scripts of any kind. We do not sell, trade, share, or disclose your information to anyone, full stop. Your membership in this community is nobody's business but yours, and we build accordingly.

How it's protected

Your information is stored in an access-controlled database, encrypted in transit and at rest. Verification pictures are held in private storage that is never publicly accessible and are seen only by the person doing the verification.

Retention

If you're approved, we keep your member record for as long as you're a member. If your application is declined, we delete your verification picture, your bona fides information, and your phone number, and retain only a minimal record (your name, email, and the decision) so that repeat applications don't have to be re-processed from scratch.

Your rights

Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act governs how we handle your information. You can ask us at any time what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email us and a person will answer.
